Officials in the prison affairs of the "Taliban" movement stated that there are currently a total of 19,000 prisoners across Afghanistan, including about 800 women.
This comes amid rising concerns about the detention of girls in Kabul.
Habibullah Badr, the military deputy president of the Taliban Executive Office for Prison Affairs, said yesterday Tuesday to media affiliated with the Taliban's Interim Government that the number of female prisoners in Taliban prisons has decreased, according to the Afghan news agency "Khaama Press" today Wednesday.
The "National Radio and Television" network affiliated with the Taliban regime stated that the total number of prisoners across Afghanistan currently stands at 19,000, about 800 of whom are women.
Mawlawi Mohammad Yousuf Mistry, head of the Taliban Executive Office for Prison Affairs, had previously announced the arrest and imprisonment of 32,000 people during the Taliban government's rule in Afghanistan over two years.
