The US police announced that a gunman killed two people and injured four others, including three police officers, before committing suicide on Saturday evening in the Dallas Fort Worth area in the state of Texas in the south of the country.
Matt Spelman, the police official in Haltom City, said on Sunday morning that all those injured in the shooting in a residential neighborhood sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover.
Spelman reported that the police officers returned fire after being attacked while responding to a report of gunshots at a house at approximately 6:45 pm.
One police officer was injured in the leg, while two other officers were injured in their arms. The suspect died from his wounds after apparently shooting himself.
Spelman pointed out that the "Texas Rangers" - the state's elite police force - will take over the investigation, and that the motive behind the shooting is not yet clear.
A woman was found dead inside the house and a man was found dead outside. Police Sergeant Rick Alexander said late Saturday that the elderly woman who initially called emergency number 911 was injured, adding that the suspect was found with a "military-style rifle" and a pistol.
