Air Canada is offering its customers who have booked flights coinciding with the potential pilots' strike next month some increased flexibility in rebooking their flights.
The airline said it has made progress in its negotiations and hopes to reach an agreement, but it is still facing the possibility of a strike by its 5,400 pilots as early as September 17.
The Air Line Pilots Association has not set a strike date, but pilots have overwhelmingly voted to approve a strike mandate if a new contract is not reached.
Under the airline's policy, customers with tickets for travel between September 15 and 23 can rebook on any other Air Canada flight with the same origin and destination until November 30 at no additional cost. Customers wishing to cancel and rebook their travel after this date will be exempt from change fees but will need to pay any fare differences.
Travelers with bookings during the affected period can also cancel their trip and receive a credit for future travel.
Refunds will be available for customers with refundable tickets, but Air Canada says that refunds will not be available for those with non-refundable tickets as flights are scheduled to operate normally.
The policy applies to all flights operated by Air Canada, including Air Canada mainline, Air Canada Rouge, Air Canada Express operated by Jazz or Palm Airlines, and Air Canada Vacations.
