The passengers traveling from Montreal to Lyon in France on Friday had to return to their homes and depart the next day after a pressure indicator was discovered during the flight.
Air Canada flight 876 was flying over Newfoundland and Labrador when the indicator went out, according to Air Canada's media relations department.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner then descended to about 10,000 feet while returning to Montreal Airport.
Air Canada said, "The crew requested a priority landing strictly as a precautionary measure according to our standard operating procedures, and the aircraft is being inspected by our aircraft maintenance and engineering specialists."
The aircraft remained in the air for just under five hours.
The 254 passengers boarded another plane on Saturday and headed to Lyon.
