After a strong earthquake shook the western regions of Japan on Monday, January 1, 2024, videos documented the arrival of tsunami waves along the west coast of Japan, amid calls for immediate evacuation.
The Japanese Meteorological Agency announced that the first tsunami waves are hitting the western coasts, while the Japanese Prime Minister called on residents of some areas to evacuate after an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4.
Other footage also showed tsunami waves passing through waterways in Ishikawa Prefecture.
This came after the Japan Meteorological Agency announced that earthquakes hit Ishikawa and neighboring prefectures, with one initially registering a magnitude of 7.4.
