Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Minister Julie issued a statement that left many observers puzzled.

It stated that Canada will abide by all rulings arising from the genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice, according to officials at Global Affairs Canada to CBC News.

The clarification, issued on Monday, comes days after confusion following oral and written statements made on Friday by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, in response to South Africa's allegation that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza in its war against Hamas.
