The spokesperson for the World Health Organization, Margaret Harris, announced to CNN that the WHO is unable to deliver aid and supplies to Gaza, putting 84,000 pregnant women at risk.
She added that there are "78 cubic meters of health supplies, enough to meet the basic needs of about 300,000 people, and they are located on the Egyptian side of the currently closed Rafah border crossing."
The spokesperson also clarified that the Director-General of the World Health Organization agreed with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to open the crossing, but the occupation's bombing has made the passage unsafe.
Harris stated, "It's a truly terrifying and painful waiting game, as we all just want to help."
Harris further noted that there are 84,000 pregnant women in Gaza, many of whom are giving birth every day… and children don’t care about the bombs; they come when they come."
Harris added that many hospitals "have stopped functioning due to the physical damage resulting from the bombing," and pointed out that the WHO has documented over 44 attacks on hospitals.
