The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced the recall of several plant-based meat products from three brands in Canada; the decision was made due to suspected listeria contamination.

The agency warned about products bearing the trademarks T&T Kitchen, Kingwuu, and Juewei, and provided advice and guidance to consumers who purchased them due to the potential risks of listeria.

CFIA stated on its website: “The affected products are being recalled due to the possibility of listeria contamination.”

CFIA warned that the recall affects Alberta and British Columbia and possibly other provinces and territories.

As for listeria contamination, it is a type of bacteria that is mostly found in food according to the definition from Health Canada.

Foods contaminated with listeria may not appear spoiled in their appearance or smell, but they can cause illness in those who consume contaminated food.

Some of the main symptoms that appear in an infected person include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and stiff neck.
