Despite the hurricane's recession, some eastern coastal areas are still suffering from the aftermath of the devastating hurricane, and many areas remain plunged in total darkness with power outages.
About 390,000 homes are still engulfed in darkness in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia reports the highest number of casualties, which forced the federal government to send soldiers in cooperation with the Canadian Ministry of Defense to lend a helping hand.

- New Brunswick: 19842
- Nova Scotia: 269054
- Prince Edward Island: 82448
- Newfoundland and Labrador: 3513
- Quebec: 400
