The World Health Organization has called for vaccinating children aged six months to 17 years, especially those of school age, before the school return to avoid complications with a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The organization’s vaccination expert, Alejandro Cravioto, said: "Regarding the use of Pfizer and Moderna boosters, children aged six months to 17 years who have underlying conditions should be vaccinated to avoid the high risks in this group.. We do not recommend the booster for children who are not in priority groups, even if those vaccines are licensed for those groups."
Cravioto said that to recommend vaccinating children in general, one needs to know more about these vaccines than is currently known, particularly how long the protection lasts.
