Win Butler, the leader of Arcade Fire, denied the allegations of sexual misconduct against him by several people. Many individuals confirmed that Butler's reputation in public places is completely different from what it is behind the scenes.

Pitchfork also wrote an article stating that three women said Butler sexually assaulted them, and their ages ranged between 18 and 23 years. A fourth woman admitted that Butler assaulted her twice in 2015 when she was 21 (Butler was 34), once in a car and once in her apartment.

Butler admitted to having "casual relationships outside of marriage with his colleague Régine Chassagne from Montreal," in a statement, in addition to having relationships with the four previously mentioned people. Win said he left Arcade Fire (the band) adding that they are still like his family.

He wrote a statement on his personal page: "More importantly, each of these women was an adult and everything happened with their consent, and frankly it is completely wrong for anyone to suggest otherwise, I have never touched a woman against her will, and any implication I have is simply wrong. I strongly deny any suggestion that I forced myself on a woman or asked for sexual services, this simply and categorically did not happen."

Win added that he suffers from mental health issues and that he started drinking heavily in his thirties, where he wrote: "None of this is meant to justify my behavior, but I want to share what was happening in my life at that time, I no longer recognize myself or the person I have become."
