Classes are expected to begin in just two weeks, with Western University indicating that COVID-19 policies will remain in effect next fall to facilitate in-person learning.

According to a press release from Western Communications, the COVID-19 policies for Fall 2022 will include requiring students, staff, and faculty members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to have received at least one dose.

Florentin Strzelczyk, Dean and Vice-President (Academic), said in a statement: "We will soon welcome students to campus." "While we cannot predict when the next wave of COVID-19 will emerge." On Monday, the university announced it had updated its COVID-19 vaccination policy.

In addition to students, staff, and faculty who have received at least three doses of a vaccine approved by the Canadian Ministry of Health, individuals must also provide proof of vaccination by October 1.

The statement also adds that students living in university residences will need to receive their boosters before moving in, but the university will offer a two-week grace period and an on-campus vaccination clinic for those unable to meet the deadline.

International students will need to follow federal vaccination guidelines to enter Canada.

As of September 1, medical masks must also be worn while inside educational spaces, such as classrooms, laboratories, and seminar rooms.
