Police and eyewitnesses said today, Wednesday, that a manager at Walmart opened fire on his fellow employees in the break room of a store in Virginia, killing six people in the second major mass shooting in the country within four days.

The police also said that the shooter, who appeared to have shot himself, died when officers found him. There was no clear motive for the shooting that injured at least six people, one of them in serious condition.

A shopper also told a local TV station that the store in Chesapeake, the second largest city in Virginia, was crowded just before the attack on Tuesday night as people stocked up before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Also, employee Briana Tyler said that the night stocking team of 15 to 20 people had gathered in the break room to review the morning plan. She said the meeting was about to start, and the team leader said: "Okay guys, we have a light night ahead," when the other team leader, 31-year-old Andre Bing, turned and opened fire on the workers, adding: "Thank God the bullet missed me, I saw smoke coming from the gun, and literally saw bodies falling. It was crazy."

In the same context, officials said on the city's Twitter account that three of the dead, including Bing, were found in the break room. Another victim was found near the store front. Three others were taken to hospitals where they died from their injuries.

Walmart said in a statement that Bing was the night shift leader and had been working with the company since 2010.

Tyler, who started working at Walmart two months ago, said she never had a negative encounter with Bing, but others told her that he was "the manager to watch out for." She said Bing had a history of writing people up for no reason.

Chesapeake Police Chief Mark G. Selsky said Bing used a handgun, and police later said he had several magazines. Selsky could not confirm whether all victims were employees.

Employee Jessi Welshievski told Norfolk TV station WAVY that she hid under the table, and Bing looked at her and pointed his rifle at her. He told her to go home, and she left.

This is the second time in just over a week that Virginia has experienced a major shooting, where three football players from the University of Virginia were fatally shot on a chartered bus while returning to campus from a field trip on November 13th, and two other players were injured.

The Walmart attack also came three days after a person opened fire at a gay nightclub in Colorado, killing five and injuring 17.
