The US Senate members voted today, Tuesday, to approve a new aid package worth $95 billion for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, but its future remains uncertain amid strong opposition from lawmakers.

The bill was approved by a majority of 70 votes to 29 in the Democrat-led legislative chamber, according to NBC News. However, it must also pass the Republican-led House of Representatives.

The package includes $61 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, and $4.83 billion to support partners in the Indo-Pacific region, including Taiwan, along with humanitarian aid facilities.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned earlier today that the United States is pushing the entire Middle East toward a catastrophe, during statements he made at the 13th session of the Valdai International Forum in Moscow.

Lavrov added that the recent Palestinian-Israeli conflict should have been stopped at an early stage, but the United States prevented a decision calling for a ceasefire from being issued at the UN Security Council.

Lavrov mentioned that the United States is doing its utmost to prevent a vote on the draft resolution submitted by Algeria at the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Gaza, and that the West seeks to exclude Russia from all settlement mechanisms in the Middle East.
