In a tweet on Twitter, American President Joe Biden said, "We continue to demonstrate our ability to defend the American people against those who seek to harm us."
He added, "I authorized the killing of Al-Zawahiri after our intelligence was able to locate him, as he moved to the center of Kabul to meet family members."
He pointed out that "after carefully reviewing the information, I authorized the precision strike that would remove him from the battlefield, once and for all."
US intelligence has demonstrated exceptional capability in planning and executing the killing of the leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in Afghanistan without causing casualties.
The precision in the operation is reflected in the moment of execution when two Hellfire missiles targeted the balcony of the house where Al-Zawahiri was residing in the Afghan capital Kabul.
The information indicates that the two missiles killed Al-Zawahiri without even destroying the house, highlighting the level of targeting accuracy that considers avoiding harm to civilians and putting their lives at risk.
Hellfire is an air-to-ground missile, laser-guided, subsonic with great anti-tank capability.
It can also be used as an air-to-air weapon against helicopters or slow-moving fixed-wing aircraft.
Hellfire can be used as an air-to-air missile or air-to-ground missile.
It also provides Air-to-Ground (AGM) -114 precise strike power against tanks, structures, hideouts, and helicopters.
This missile is capable of defeating any known tank in the world today and can be guided to the target either from inside the aircraft or by an outside laser.
An analyst told The New York Times that images of the strike posted on social media suggest a Hellfire missile strike armed with long blades aimed at killing kinetic targets to reduce significant collateral damage.
He pointed out that Al-Zawahiri was killed in a drone strike "without any US forces on the ground," adding that the operation "was prepared for and executed with high precision."
