The mayoral candidate Catherine McKenney has issued their plan to support the small business sector in the city as well as entrepreneurs.
In a statement, McKenney said they aim to create a vibrant and prosperous city hoping to build the economic development and services that Ottawa needs.
They said: "Small businesses are the heart of our communities and the engine of the city's economy, yet they often struggle to thrive for many reasons, including the impact of the pandemic."
McKenney wants to help businesses thrive and ensure that main streets, public squares, and downtown centers are supported through City of Ottawa policies as integrated commercial hubs for communities.
McKenney also pledged to expand the property tax discount to up to 10,000 small businesses across the city and establish a dedicated contact service for small businesses to navigate resources and requirements.
They also plan to attract key employers who provide high-skilled and well-paid jobs, which they hope will enhance the growth potential for entrepreneurial leaders.
Other initiatives proposed by McKenney include stimulating the local food and agricultural economy as well as boosting tourism through strategic initiatives with building a vibrant city with strong municipal services.
