The International Atomic Energy Agency said today, Saturday, October 1, 2022, that Russia informed it that the director of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is being held for questioning.
A spokesperson for the agency added: "The International Atomic Energy Agency requested clarification from the Russian authorities, and they informed us that the director general of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is temporarily detained for questioning," according to the Euronews channel website.
The Ukrainian state nuclear energy company Energoatom said earlier today that a Russian patrol arrested the director general of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant while he was on his way to the town of Enerhodar, at about 4 pm local time, which is 1 pm Greenwich Mean Time.
