The world’s most famous microblogging platform "Twitter" announced the availability of a new feature specifically to combat harassment to protect millions of users from intruders.
Twitter clarified in an official statement that it will enable the harassment safety mode for nearly 50% of its users in America, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand.
The company began testing the feature last September with a few people and confirmed that it will expand the beta to include other English-speaking countries to gain more insights and look for ways to make further improvements.
The safety mode consists of settings that automatically block accounts that Twitter believes may use harmful language, and these accounts will not be able to interact with you for seven days.
This mode allows users the opportunity to review tweets and accounts that Twitter found suspicious and manually unblock the account if there is actually no problem.
Accounts that users follow or interact with are often not automatically blocked.
The idea is to reduce harassment and avoid the need to manually report abusive tweets and accounts, and wait for Twitter to take action.
