The Turkish private channel ''TGRT'' fired news presenter 'Miltem Günay' after she appeared live on air on Sunday, December 24, 2023, with a 'Starbucks' coffee cup in front of her, according to Turkish media which indicated that the firing decision also included the director.
The Turkish channel said in a statement on the "X" platform that news presenter "Miltem Günay" appeared to the public during the news broadcast while presenting the news with an American company's "Starbucks" cup in front of her.
It added, "According to our institution's principles, it is strictly forbidden for the presenter to present in a way that promotes any company, and the news presenter and the director who acted contrary to this principle were fired."
The channel added in its statement, "We understand the sensitivities of the Turkish people towards Gaza and their defense of it, and it is impossible to approve any action or publication that violates this, and the channel will continue to stand with the Palestinian people in Gaza."
It is worth mentioning that the provinces of Istanbul, Siirt, Bingöl, Batman, and Mardin in southeastern Turkey witnessed anti-Israeli occupation attacks protests on Gaza yesterday.
