Smart device application developers have entered a heated race to develop applications for the smart virtual reality (VR) glasses "Vision Pro," developed by the American electronics company Apple.

Even a week before its launch, only 150 applications had been developed for this entirely new device, according to an independent analysis of Apple’s App Store. Apple said there are more than 600 new apps and games ready to work with Vision Pro before it is released to users.

At the same time, there are more than a million apps compatible with iOS and iPadOS that can work with the new glasses, according to Apple.

The technology-specialized site TechCrunch noted that this news comes at a time when Apple has introduced a plan to comply with the new Digital Markets Act in the European Union, which forces Apple to allow users of its smart devices like iPhone and iPad to access other app stores and electronic payment systems.

Nevertheless, competing companies such as Spotify, Epic Games, and Microsoft described Apple’s plan as a "farce full of unwanted fees" and "a step in the wrong direction." Due to this opinion, concerns have increased about developers’ declining interest in developing special applications for Apple’s latest device in light of the Digital Markets Act rules of the EU.

The giant American electronics company Apple announced the launch of its virtual reality (VR) glasses for sale in the United States next year at a price of $3,449 per unit. The new device is expected to be launched outside the United States, but Apple did not specify a date for this step during its announcement at the Las Vegas International Electronics Show (CES), which recently concluded.

Apple believes the smart glasses Vision Pro will be used in education, video conferencing, and music production with 3D controllers, in addition to content streaming and online gaming.

It is worth noting that Apple first revealed this device last June, which combines digital content with real-world components surrounding the user in what is known as augmented reality (AR) or mixed reality in the first major new product Apple has introduced in over 10 years.

In addition to augmented reality uses, which have greater potential in new digital workplaces, the new glasses can also be used to fully immerse you in a digital world without showing you the details of the room around you. Perhaps the strangest feature in the new virtual reality glasses is the presence of an external display that shows the user's eyes to the people around them.

Apple says these glasses were developed for use in remote work or offices, where the Vision Pro glasses allow the user to run similar applications on iOS and macOS devices via a platform called Vision OS. To give the wearer a sense of depth, the applications create shadows on the objects around them.
