The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged today, Sunday, the authorities of Ontario Province in Canada to conduct a swift investigation into the circumstances of the death of one of its nationals by the bullets of two Canadian police officers in an incident that occurred a week ago.
The Tunisian man was killed last Sunday in the city of Oakville by seven bullets from the pistols of two Canadian police officers.
The two police officers are under investigation. No information has been provided by the authorities regarding the circumstances of the incident.
According to Tunisian press sites, the Canadian police fired shots after receiving a warning about a fight between the Tunisian victim and the owner of the house he rents.
The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "the preliminary unconfirmed information indicates that the deceased was not in a position of danger that would justify being shot seven times by the police."
In a statement, it called "the authorities of Ontario Province and the police of the mentioned city to promptly ascertain all the circumstances of the incident, reveal all related facts, and swiftly and without delay hold the administrative and criminal responsibilities."
