Two people were killed and a mother and her daughter were taken to the hospital after two collisions in the Peel area on Saturday and Sunday morning, according to officials.

In separate tweets, Peel Regional Police reported two fatal accidents, one occurring in Mississauga at around 10:38 pm on Saturday evening, while the second was reported in Brampton at 12:39 am Sunday morning.

Primarily, police were called to the Derry Road and Ninth Line area in Mississauga to handle a two-car crash as per procedures followed in such cases.

Police said the "injured" were taken to a local hospital where one of them died from their injuries.

Just barely two hours later, emergency services rushed to another fatal collision site.

Police arrived at the Creditview Road and Wanless Drive area in Brampton after a two-car collision.

Police said there was a girl in one of the cars, who was taken to a local trauma center along with her father, while her mother was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said: "The father and the girl are fine."

Police also said that in the other car, a 20-year-old passenger was pulled out and declared dead at the scene.

The driver was "detained for committing an impaired-related crime".

The circumstances leading to both collisions were not immediately clear.
