Drivers should fill their tanks today before gasoline prices rise again in the Greater Toronto Area, according to an energy analyst.
Gasoline prices have reached a welcome low of 158.9 cents per liter across Southern Ontario, down nearly 60 cents from the peak of 215.9 cents per liter on June 11.
However, a senior energy official, Dan McTeague, said prices have "receded" and are expected to rise on Thursday and in the coming days.
McTeague told CP24 on Wednesday morning that prices could jump by about 30 cents to reach 190.0 cents per liter in the upcoming days.
He added that the price increase can be attributed to ongoing volatility in the oil and gas market.
Prices have been rising since late February due to fuel supply shortages amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the international sanctions imposed as a result of the war.
