Approximately 12,000 homes have been reported without electricity due to scattered outages across the province, with a wind and rain storm moving around the area.

According to Nova Scotia Power, the largest outages occurred in areas near northern Cape Breton, near northern Sydney, East Lorne Town, and New Glasgow since 10 AM yesterday.

Additionally, some schools have been closed, including all schools in the Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education and the Strait Regional Centre for Education.

More rain to come...

According to "Tina Simpkin," a meteorologist at CBC, another 10 to 20 millimeters of rain is expected in Nova Scotia today, except for the Pictou and Guysborough counties which will see 30 to 50 millimeters. Cape Breton could experience between 50 and 70 millimeters of rain today.

The Canadian Environment Ministry has warned of rain in most of the province this morning, with decreasing rainfall rates from west to east. These warnings also remain in effect for eastern Nova Scotia counties, including all of Cape Breton County.

Despite some cancellations, most flights are still on schedule at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Flights are also operating as scheduled at J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport.
