The death toll from the "Maui" wildfires in the U.S. state of Hawaii has risen to 114, according to local authorities announced today, Sunday.
Hawaii Governor Josh Green stated that the death toll from this disaster reached 114 people and is expected to increase every day, as the search for the missing is still ongoing.
Green also noted that more than 2,200 buildings have been destroyed and another 500 buildings have been damaged, resulting in losses estimated at around 6 billion U.S. dollars. A previous toll had reported 110 fatalities during the wildfires in the Maui forests.
It is worth noting that President Joe Biden earlier announced that the Hawaii wildfires are a natural disaster and that the government would provide federal aid to the island of Maui to fund immediate relief efforts and reconstruction.
It is important to mention that the devastating fires in Maui are considered the deadliest in over a century in the history of the United States.
