The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank have chosen an African country to hold their annual meetings in 2023 for the second time since the inception of these meetings in 1946 "Nairobi in Kenya in 1973".
This city of Marrakech in Morocco, from October 9 to 15, 2023, will witness a shift in the architecture of global financing toward more support for developing countries in light of ongoing international pressures and crises, as well as the debt crisis, which seriously threatens the stability of the global economy, especially since these meetings, alongside the spring meetings, are considered the most important economic and financial meetings at the global level.
This year's events will see world leaders, finance and economy ministers, central bank governors, representatives of major financial groups, as well as civil society and the private sector participating in the activities, as they do every year in a city adorned for the occasion.
This year's meetings of the two largest international financing institutions will focus on studying the challenges facing global development while proposing solutions that can be applied in reality, particularly concerning debt.
The issue of how to eradicate poverty worldwide will be discussed, which means finding new ways to address global challenges through job creation, supporting economic growth, combating climate change, and discussing its financing.
