The Canadian National Exhibition announced that 2023 was the most anticipated year ever.

According to the National Exhibition, 1.604 million people visited the exhibition between August 18 and September 4, recording the highest attendance rate in the event's history, with the previous attendance record set in 2015 at 1.601 million.

Darryl Brown, the CEO of the exhibition, said in a press release, “Last year, we attributed this amazing attendance partly to pent-up demand following the pandemic; however, this year is a testament that the National Exhibition remains one of the most enduring, resilient, and beloved annual events that continues to evolve and resonate with people across generations, despite inflation and tough economic times for many. We want to thank our attendees for coming out to enjoy the exhibition."

In 2022, more than 45 percent of attendees at the National Exhibition came from outside the Greater Toronto Area, contributing to the estimated economic impact of the National Exhibition at around $112 million in Toronto and $142 million in Ontario.

Brown added, "The National Exhibition is an important tradition for many residents of Ontario, and we will continue to connect and create memories for new audiences every year."
