The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud received today, Sunday, a phone call from Iranian President Masoud Bezijian, in which he praised Riyadh's initiative to call for a joint Arab Islamic follow-up summit to discuss the continuation of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories and the Lebanese Republic. The call also reviewed the developments in the relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them.

Leaders of Arab and Islamic nations have begun arriving in Saudi Arabia in preparation for a summit scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, to discuss the war in Gaza, Lebanon, and developments in the region, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Today, Sunday, in Riyadh, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan chaired the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Arab and Islamic summit, where the agenda for the anticipated summit was discussed, along with the key issues to be addressed.

In late October, the Saudi Foreign Ministry announced the summit during the first meeting of an international coalition formed to advance the two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The summit is being held with the aim of "discussing the continuation of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and the developments in the region," according to what the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday, Sunday.

This comes "as an extension of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023," initiated by the Arab League (Cairo) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Jeddah).

The Saudi "Al-Ikhbariya" channel broadcast scenes of the arrival of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

It is also expected that Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will participate in the summit, according to what was announced by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry last week, noting that he intends to call for a "immediate end to the genocide in Gaza," and "an immediate halt to Israeli recklessness in the region."
