The police in Saskatchewan said that a report of a possible sighting of Miles Sanderson at the James Smith Cree Nation site has not been verified, and the suspect in a series of stabbing attacks remains at large.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police issued an update to warn citizens stating that investigators received reports of a possible sighting of Sanderson in the city. Shortly after the shelter-in-place order was issued, an intensive search began for 30-year-old Miles Sanderson. Police believe Miles may have been seen in Regina before 12 noon on Sunday, as he was believed to be traveling in a black Nissan Rogue with Saskatchewan license plate 119 MPI.
Miles is over six feet tall and weighs 240 pounds, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). He may be injured and might be seeking medical care.
Doreen Liss, an 89-year-old resident of Weldon, told the Canadian Press that she and her daughter received a call early Sunday from a man who said he was injured and needed help. Liss added: "He was wearing a big jacket on his face, we asked him for his name but he ran away after my daughter called the police for help."
Bray took the opportunity to address parents who may be worried about sending their children to school while Miles is still at large, saying: "Very violent incidents occurred [Sunday] in northern Saskatchewan. However, since then, no further violent acts have occurred, this violence will not be repeated in our community and there is no indication of a threat of violence either." However, Bray said Miles should still be considered armed and dangerous.
Miles faces three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one count of break and enter.
