The Sudanese civil aviation authorities reported in a statement today, Monday, that Khartoum International Airport will continue to keep its airspace closed until August 15, confirming that the airspace is only available for flights related to humanitarian and relief aid and for evacuating nationals from the country.

It is noted that the Sudanese airspace was closed immediately after the outbreak of clashes in the country on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

After days of these clashes, the duo "Burhan and Hemeti" agreed to impose a ceasefire in the country and to stop the use of weapons on Thursday, April 27, 2023, only for the clashes to erupt again. Due to these unsatisfactory developments in the country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with the United States of America, contributed to the drafting of the Jeddah Agreement, aimed at calming the political situation in Sudan.

Indeed, the conflicting parties in Sudan met in Riyadh to approve this agreement, which stipulated the protection of civilians from the ongoing shelling between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, in addition to restricting the use of weapons among citizens in the country, to prevent further casualties, injuries, or material losses.
