The Algerian Foreign Ministry announced that the authorities in Niger accepted the Algerian mediation offered by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune last August, aimed at formulating a political solution to the ongoing crisis in this country, following the army's ousting of President Mohamed Bazoum.
Additionally, a statement from the Algerian Foreign Ministry on Monday indicated that the acceptance of the Algerian initiative enhances the option of a political solution to the crisis in Niger and opens the way for providing the necessary conditions that would facilitate the peaceful resolution of this crisis, preserving the interests of Niger and the region as a whole.
The Algerian initiative is based on 6 principles, including transparency and flexibility, with the solution to the crisis placed within a regional and then international framework. Accordingly, a timeframe of 6 months has been set to formulate a political solution and agree on an acceptable figure to restore constitutional order.
