About 30 people were injured, several of them seriously, today Tuesday after a train derailed in Voorschoten in the south of the Netherlands, according to emergency services.
The train derailed around 03:25 (01:25 GMT) after colliding with construction equipment on the tracks in this town located in the northeastern suburb of The Hague, according to the same source.
The source added that "the seriously injured were transferred to nearby hospitals" while 11 people are being treated on site.
He said that "experts are working to secure safety around the train. An investigation will be opened to determine the causes of the accident".
The accident occurred on the railway line between the cities of Leiden and The Hague.
