South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is under increasing pressure after his wife was filmed accepting a handbag from the brand "Dior" given as a gift by a priest known for his call to normalize relations with North Korea.

The hidden camera footage showing Kim Keon-hee accepting the handbag, which is worth $2250, has been dubbed the "Dior handbag scandal" by local media.

The scandal threatens to undermine the efforts of the conservative People Power Party, led by Yoon Suk-yeol, to win a majority in the National Assembly in the upcoming April elections.

Some members of his party urged the president and his wife to apologize for the incident and admit that accepting the purse was, at the very least, inappropriate, hoping to put an end to the matter.
