The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) sent an alert advising residents of the James Smith Cree Nation area to take shelter and stay indoors following a report of a possible sighting of the mass murder suspect who stabbed his victims, Miles Sanderson, who is still at large after his accused brother was found dead.
According to exclusive sources to CBC, there is a heavy police presence in the reserve as the search continues for Sanderson, accused of murder along with his deceased brother Damien Sanderson, 31 years old, in connection with the mass stabbing that left 10 dead and 18 injured (these numbers do not include the suspects), in the James Smith Cree Nation area and the nearby village of Weldon in Saskatchewan.
Damien Sanderson was also found dead on Monday with wounds that do not appear to be self-inflicted, according to the RCMP, suspected to have been stabbed by the perpetrator, becoming the 11th victim.
Civil organizations in James Smith Cree Nation have taken on the responsibility of collecting the largest possible amount of food supplies, money, and other assistance for the benefit of the victims' families.
