Former representative for the Langley area, British Columbia, joins the race for town mayor.
Rich Coleman announced on Friday that he will run for the top position in the town of Langley under the banner of a new municipal party called Elevate Langley.
He represented Fort Langley-Aldergrove and Langley East in British Columbia. A legislator for 24 years, during which time he held a variety of roles including Liberal opposition leader, deputy premier, and attorney general.
Coleman also served as Minister of Public Safety, Housing and Social Development, and Forests.
He was first elected as an MLA in 1996, and decided not to seek re-election before the 2020 vote.
During his time in office, he was criticized for failing to do enough to keep money laundering out of the province.
