Amtrak service from Montreal to New York City will resume within the next month, after a three-year halt.

New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik announced on Friday the resumption of the Adirondack train line, saying Amtrak committed to fully reopening the line by April 3.

The route extends from Montreal to New York City, including stops in St-Lambert in Quebec and Plattsburgh, Ticonderoga, Albany, and Poughkeepsie in New York.

Stefanik also said in a press statement that the Amtrak Adirondack line: “serves an important economic engine, connecting tourists and our Canadian neighbors to our region”.

The Adirondack line has been described as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.

It is also noted that in July, Amtrak resumed the Maple Leaf line from New York City to Toronto.

Earlier this week, Amtrak announced it will resume service on the Cascades line between Vancouver and Portland, Oregon.
