LCBO locations reopened across Ontario yesterday, Tuesday, for the first time since the historic strike involving about 10,000 workers.

Judy Burns said, "Oh, I am overwhelmingly happy that LCBO is open again."

While there was no line at stores in Ottawa, many shoppers returned to stock up.

David St. Louis said, "Just a few coolers I couldn't get from the beer store."

Helen Parsons said, "I can buy most wine from grocery stores and local places nearby." "But we were in the city, so we were close by and thought we would stock up for our holiday."

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union stated that the deal that ended the strike includes an 8% wage increase over three years, no store closures during the term of the agreement, and 1,000 temporary staff will receive part-time permanent jobs.

There are no changes to the planned expansion in the province for alcohol sales to other retail locations. Ontario Premier Doug Ford insists there is a future for LCBO.

Ford said, "It will be great for the people of Ontario. They have a choice. They have the convenience of going to a small store, and they have the option to go to retail stores and everyone is happy."
