The Director of Public Health in Montreal, Meline Drouin, called for preventive measures to help the elderly maintain their health.
The Director of Public Health added that about 90 percent of the elderly in Quebec province live in their homes and not in nursing homes.
Meline Drouin pointed out that the pace of population aging is accelerating in the Francophone province, and also confirmed that there will be nearly half a million people aged 65 and over in Montreal by 2041.
