Montreal police announced that they have arrested a gang of thieves allegedly involved in a series of break-ins at large stores and jewelry shops in Montreal, Lachute, and Ottawa over the past two years.
The police also said that the modus operandi was similar in the four reported thefts, where they managed to enter the targeted stores using advanced means after the stores closed at night. Once inside, they focus their efforts on cash registers and valuable items, then escape with large amounts of cash, jewelry, and goods.
On Wednesday, four men aged between 43 and 57 were arrested and released after giving a promise to appear in court.
According to the police, searches were conducted in Mirabel, Mille-Isles, and Saint-Colomban, where the gang may be responsible for other similar thefts in Montreal and other places in Quebec and Ontario.
