The leader of the Avenir alliance in Quebec, François Legault, said he regrets the publication of content in English on his party's website. During his election campaign before the regional elections on October 3, Legault told reporters in the Longueuil suburb of Montreal today that he personally intervened to remove the content.
The party had published an English version on its site of a document detailing its achievements during its four years in government.
Legault says that while the section in the party's record was the only campaign material in English on the CAQ website, the entire site should have been in French only, and that was his mistake.
Also, as of this afternoon, a section of the party's website titled "Our Record Now" redirects to the French version of the document, and the only English content on the site is related to the COVID-19 pandemic and was published last January.
Legault's government approved a language law this year aimed at strengthening the status of French as the official and common language in the province.
