Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his candidacy for the presidential elections scheduled for 2024, according to the Russian news agency "Tass," on Friday.
The agency added that Putin made this announcement at the Kremlin, after honoring soldiers who fought in Ukraine by awarding them the highest military decoration in the country, the Gold Star Medal, which comes with the title Hero of Russia.
Putin still enjoys widespread support, after nearly a quarter of a century in power.
