Six beds in the cancer wing at the MUHC Glen site have been closed due to staff shortages.
The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the closures in the oncology department occurred last week after patients were discharged, reducing the number of beds open to patients from 30 to 24.
Officials said the staff shortage that led to the bed closures affects the entire healthcare network, and the MUHC is no exception.
This loss of beds comes at a time when the province is trying to attract nurses who went to private healthcare back to the public system.
