The South African Parliament voted today, Tuesday, to close the Israeli embassy in Pretoria in a new setback in diplomatic relations between the two countries, within days.

The decision came with the approval of 248 members against the rejection of 91 others.

The decision comes until Israel complies with international legitimacy resolutions regarding Palestine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tel Aviv had summoned its ambassador to South Africa following the latter's stance on the killing of thousands of civilians.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that his country had filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court to investigate "war crimes" committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Ramaphosa said his country believes that Israel is committing war crimes and genocide in the Gaza Strip, where thousands of Palestinians were killed in addition to the destruction of hospitals and public infrastructure, adding: "Together with many other countries, we have filed this complaint against Israel to the International Criminal Court."
