A Polish parliament member participating in the investigation file regarding the governor of the central bank said that the ruling party is preparing for a long investigation with Governor Adam Glapinski, warning of possible attempts to obstruct the procedures, according to Bloomberg News Agency today, Friday.
MP Janusz Cichon, who is leading the work on this file, said in an interview with Bloomberg that the request to start the investigation will be referred to the parliament next Tuesday.
This is the first step in a process that could lead to Glapinski appearing before a special court, ultimately aiming to overthrow an ally of the former administration, whom Prime Minister Donald Tusk accuses of political interference.
According to Cichon, the request will launch an investigation conducted by a committee of MPs and may take between 6 and 12 months. The investigation will include hearing witnesses, including the central bank governor.
The former ruling party is trying to prevent the committee from summoning Glapinski.
