A man from the Mississauga area faces charges related to what the police describe as a million-dollar fraud scheme that took place over two years. The police say members of the Fraud Office at Peel Regional Police conducted a "comprehensive investigation" after receiving multiple fraud reports related to the same suspect.
The suspect is alleged to have arranged to provide home contractor services to clients in cities across the Greater Toronto Area, where the police say he accepted deposits from clients but did not actually start the work. An Ontario family says the alleged contractor abandoned a backyard project after they paid him $13,000.
Milentje Djordjevic was arrested on Monday and charged with four counts of fraud over $500,000. The police say investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
Peel Regional Police urge all individuals not to pay upfront for products or services when dealing with unknown or unverified persons.
