Official announcement of Pierre Poilievre's victory as leader of the Conservative Party to run for Prime Minister of Canada in the upcoming election

Pierre Poilievre is the new leader of the Canadian Conservative Party, winning the first ballot.

After a seven-month campaign in which Poilievre was seen as the frontrunner, he won the election decisively.

Poilievre received 68.15 percent of the votes, far surpassing runner-up Jean Charest with 16.07 percent of the votes.

The Canadian Conservative Party announced the election results at a slightly scaled-down event in downtown Ottawa on Saturday night.
