News reports on Friday mentioned that the American pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is conducting very important tests on a vaccine that can fight both the coronavirus and influenza viruses together, adding that clinical trials on the vaccine fighting both coronavirus and influenza have begun.
The Daily Mail newspaper explained that the first patient received the Pfizer vaccine that fights both viruses earlier this week, and that Pfizer chose 180 people aged between 18 and 64 to conduct these trials. Their cases will be monitored over the next 6 months and compared with members of other groups who did not receive this new vaccine.
The reports confirmed that this new vaccine targets the Omicron variant and other variants derived from it, in addition to the four types of influenza, including viruses A and B. The vaccine uses messenger RNA technology to combat these viruses.
Pfizer had revealed the results of its business during the third quarter, which showed a 6% year-on-year increase in the giant company's profits coinciding with the rise in sales of the booster dose of the anti-coronavirus vaccine.
