Researchers from the University of "Toronto" in Canada revealed great benefits of adding honey to our diet.

A study conducted by researchers from the University of "Toronto", published in the journal Nutrition Reviews, stated that honey improves cardiovascular health, and also contributes to regulating blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Among the findings reached by the researchers in a series of clinical trials they supervised was that consuming honey lowers blood glucose levels during fasting, bad cholesterol, and triglycerides that cause fat formation in the liver.

The researchers also confirmed in their 18 experiments involving 1,100 people that honey raises good cholesterol levels and improves the body's resistance to infections.

According to the researchers, the benefits of honey stem from its complex composition of common and rare sugars, proteins, organic acids, and biologically active compounds.

How much honey should we consume daily?

The study advised replacing sugar with honey, as this may reduce metabolic risks to the heart.

Honey sourced from a single flower source such as acacia and clover is very beneficial compared to other types of honey.

Processed honey loses many of its health benefits after pasteurization.

The effect of hot drinks on raw honey depends on several factors, and most likely does not destroy all the beneficial properties of honey.
