On the eve of the official launch of the election campaign in Quebec, the Parti Québécois (PQ) announced that it has completed its team of candidates who will contest 125 ridings in Quebec in the general election on October 3.
PQ leader Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon is now the official candidate of his party in Montreal Camille Lorrain, formerly known as Bourgie.
The party's national campaign will be launched on Sunday, the official day for calling elections. Saint-Pierre Plamondon said in a statement on Saturday, "We have brought together men and women from across Quebec to propose a real alternative to François Legault's federalism."
However, the party indicated that seven candidates cannot be publicly announced at this time due to work commitments.
PQ said, "Their names and profiles will be revealed within a few days."
The first official PQ campaign rally will be held in Joliette, where PQ incumbent MNA Véronique Hivon will not seek re-election.
Hivon has served four consecutive terms in Joliette since 2008. She was Minister of Social Services and Youth Protection in Pauline Marois's government (2012-2014).
