Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned today, Saturday, the United States' use of the veto power in the United Nations Security Council to prevent the council from issuing a resolution obligating Israel to stop its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian president described the American stance as "aggressive and immoral," and a flagrant violation of all humanitarian values and principles, holding the United States responsible for the blood of Palestinian children, women, and elderly spilling in the Gaza Strip at the hands of the occupation forces as a result of its disgraceful policy supporting the occupation and the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, noting that the State of Palestine will have a position on all this.

He confirmed that this American policy makes the United States a partner in the crime of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, warning that this policy has become a danger to the world and a threat to international security and peace.

President Mahmoud Abbas said that this decision, by which the American administration challenged the international community, will give an additional green light to the State of the Israeli occupation to continue its aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and will constitute a shame that will pursue the United States for many years, calling on the international community to seek solutions to stop the genocide war being carried out by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, before this serious crisis turns into a religious war threatening the entire world.

In the same context, the Palestinian president expressed his thanks to the member states of the Security Council that sided with justice, peace, and humanitarian ethics, and supported the resolution calling for stopping the Israeli aggression, considering it a threat to global security and peace.

For his part, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh described the failure of the United Nations Security Council to pass a draft resolution to stop the aggression on the Gaza Strip due to the United States' use of the veto power as a stain of shame and a new license for the Israeli occupation state to continue killing, destruction, and displacement.

In a press statement, Shtayyeh expressed his appreciation to the countries that voted in favor of the resolution, calling on them to recognize the independent Palestinian state and continue their efforts to stop the aggression, bring in food, medical aid, and fuel, and restore the lifeline that has been cut off from the Strip for more than two months.

The Palestinian Prime Minister said that the use of the "veto" exposes the falsehood of caring for the lives of civilians, considering what happened to be an insult to the free people of the world and a violation of the values of truth, justice, freedom, human rights, and all countries calling for human rights on the World Day for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which marks its 75th anniversary the day after tomorrow, Sunday, pointing out that the United Nations Charter is written by America and erased whenever it wishes, so international law has become worthless.
